Play equipment must be sufficient to serve the licensed capacity and allow for regular rotation. Play equipment and furnishings must be of such a type and design as to meet the needs of the enrolled children in regard to their developmental stages, age and the type of program offered.

Play equipment must include equipment for gross motor activity and fine motor activity as well as provide opportunities for investigation and social interactions.

RATIONALE

All children should have the opportunity to engage in activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive and physical development in a comfortable environment.

Maintenance
All equipment must be maintained in a safe and clean condition as well as kept in a good state of repair.

GOOD PRACTICE

Offer equipment and open-ended play materials that provide appropriate challenges and experiences for all areas of development.
