Infant Room
— Telephone emergency list
Each centre must be equipped with telephone service or an approved, alternative means of obtaining emergency assistance.
An accessible up-to-date list of emergency telephone numbers must be posted near each telephone. It must include the telephone numbers of:
- the fire department;
- the nearest hospital;
- the nearest ambulance service;
- the nearest poison control centre;
- the police department;
- a taxi service.
When on field trips or off the premises staff must have an accessible up-to-date list of emergency telephone numbers, as well as the emergency information for each child in their care.
GOOD PRACTICE
- Keep the emergency telephone list up-to-date by periodically requesting current home/work information from parents.
- Maintain an up-to-date binder with a list of emergency telephone numbers and emergency information for each child. This binder is to accompany the children any time they are taken off the premises.
